Bruno Campo combines his Latin-American spirit and entrepreneurship with his formation in the central European music tradition. Born in Guatemala. Founded the “Municipal school of music” and Sistema Guatemala. Looking for deep roots in the European musical tradition the legacy of Nicolaus Harnoncourt, studied at University of Performing Arts Graz, Austria and mastered conducting studies with David Zinmann, Daniele Gatti, and Peter Eötvos. Semifinalist in the “Svetlanov competition” 2018 Paris in front of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and awarded with the “Orchestra Prize” at the National Radio Television Albania competition 2019.

Co-founder of the “Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra”. Has been decorated with the “Rafael Alvarez Ovalle” and “Peace ambassador” medals from the Guatemalan government for his contribution to the Art and Culture in his country. Highlights include conducting the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in the opening ceremony of the “European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017”, and a successful residency of the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra in Athens conducting the final concert of the Hellenic festival at the breath-taking “Odeon of Herodes Atticus Amphitheater” in 2017 and at in La Scala di Milano in 2015. 

During his youth (22yo.), Bruno was entrusted by Maestro José Antonio Abreu to continue the build up “El Sistema Guatemala”. In the course of 6 years, the program reached 2500 children and adolescents active in 10 youth orchestras and diverse ensembles in 8 new music schools under his leadership. Since 2012, he focused on looking for the roots of the Austrian and Central European music tradition studying at University of Performing arts Graz, and parallel to his studies and diverse important European masterclasses. He initiated significant Sistema inspired orchestras in Europe.
